Junior and senior students at Medina High School may enroll in dual credit courses, provided they meet college entrance requirements. Dual credit courses are currently offered through San Antonio College and the Texas Virtual School Network which provides courses through the University of Texas at Arlington, the University of Texas--Permian Basin, and Lamar University. Students are limited to two courses per semester. Medina ISD is not required to provide free dual credit courses; however, the courses with San Antonio College are currently offered free of charge. Dual credit courses with other providers are currently offered on a "parent pay" basis and range in cost from $150 to $400 per semester course. Medina ISD currently purchases the required textbooks. Students are required to reimburse the district for the textbooks if the students drop the course for any reason, fail to return the textbook, or return the textbook in a damaged condition. Each college or university providing dual credit courses has its own eligibility requirements. Interested students should see the school counselor for more details.
